Work Experience
Students can generally undertake work experience once they are 15 years of age and are enrolled in Years 10, 11 or 12.
Requests outside these requirements will be considered by the school on a case-by-case basis.
At Mansfield Secondary College, Year 10 students undertake one five-day block of work experience, usually at the end of Term 2. For students in Years 11 and 12, work experience may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
Approval will depend on factors including:
-
The availability of a suitable placement
-
The timing of exams and assessments
-
The student’s behaviour, attendance and readiness
-
Any health, safety or wellbeing considerations
Students who are considered a potential safety risk may not be permitted to participate in work experience.
Work experience is generally a requirement for students seeking a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship.
Students interested in undertaking work experience should speak with Shelly Comben.
